My trip to Karachi was actually composed of several parts. :)
At first, I was going to Istanbul on the 5th of November. Flying with SkyEurope, it was quite difficult to pack only 20 kg of luggage and in the end, I had to pay extra. I hope it will be worth the Slivovica and someone will drink it ;)
After I arrived to Istanbul, I somehow managed to get to Taksim square, which is the living center of Istanbul. Very busy streets, lots of shops, cafes, pubs and shisa. I was picked up at the square by one of the LC Istanbul members and he took me to the MC Turkey office. For one night I was staying at the MC flat, which was amazing, because the MC are all great people, so I enjoyed the short time that I could spend with them and I am very thankful for them letting me sleep over at their place.
The next day, I had a fun time at the Ataturk airport, since they didn't want to allow me to take my handluggage on the plane, because it was heavy. A couple of sad looks and explanation of my journey sorted it out though. ;) The flight itself was absolutely fine and Qatar Airways are amazing. Good food, no problems whatsoever and almost on time.
After I arrived at the Karachi airport, I spent about 1 hour waiting in 1 line for foreign passports. When I was already absolutely impatient, one police officer came and told people to split into 2 lines. I was so happy that the things will move faster. But this was actually one of my first Pakistani impressions. Even though we split into 2 lines, both lines were managed by one officer, which made things even more slower and chaotic. To spend the time, I was talking to an elderly couple, who was absolutely amazed, why I come here.
After that, I took my baggage and made the first step on the Pakistan soil. And two things struck me right away. 1. Where are the AIESEC guys? and 2. Damn its so hot. :) Well unfortunately, the person who was supposed to pick me up at 6 am, when I arrived fell asleep and no one arrived. But since I am not so much panicking anymore, I just picked up the phone and called the first contact I had there. Within 30 minutes, Mariam sent me the address of one LC Karachi members, Tabinda, and I took the adventurous trip on a Karachi yellow cab with a guy who didn't speak any english.
Fortunately through various random communication, calling and such, we managed to reach Tabinda's place, where I crashed right on bed and slept for the rest of the day.
In late afternoon I got my pickup from Junaid finally and moved to Masooma's place. And since then it was just one great experience after another. But about that later on. :)
